LeBron James, Lakers.

Entering the NBA season, LeBron James has already cashed checks for his three teams – the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Miami Heat and now the Lakers – totaling more than $310 million in 17 seasons. Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg as far as James’ income is concerned.

Remember: When James joined the NBA in 2003, he already had a seven-year, $93 million contract with Nike. In 2010, he signed a new contract with Nike that would have earned him $30 million a year. This contract was terminated in 2015 due to a lifetime deal with Nike that would have netted the company about $1 billion.

Forbes estimates that James will reach a high threshold this year – with approvals, he will reach $1 billion in career growth. According to the website, only four other athletes earned $1 billion during their active careers: Golfer Tiger Woods, boxer Floyd Mayweather and football stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

LeBron James earns nearly $100 million this year

Forbes expects James to make $95.4 million this year. His Lakers contract is worth $39 million, putting him seventh in the NBA behind Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, James Harden and Kevin Durant, who all earn more than $40 million a year. James will earn more than $50 million from endorsements.

James signed an $85 million contract with the Lakers over two years through 2023.

James has long been careful with his money and wise with his investments. He explained in a podcast with his business partner Maverick Carter what Uninterrupted is all about: My uncles taught me how to keep a savings account. They gave me a dollar and said: Listen, cousin, spend 35 cents and keep the other 65. Or, if they gave me two dollars, they would say spend one dollar, but hide the other dollar.

He remembered the lesson: I always remembered to hide my money and keep it sacred… because I didn’t know when my uncle would give me another dollar here and another 50 cents here.

James is still playing at the MVP level

Even at the age of 36, James remains one of the most popular athletes in the world. His arrival to the Lakers in 2018 opened up new revenue opportunities and increased his global visibility by joining one of the NBA’s leading franchises. His location in Los Angeles also contributed to his credibility in the entertainment industry.

The fact that James always plays at a high level is also a plus. He averaged 25.2 points, 7.5 assists and 7.8 rebounds this season with 49.2 percent of his shots coming from the field and 41.3 percent – a career record – from the 3-point line. He is one of the favorites to win the MVP award this season, and his Lakers are in a good position to win a second championship in a row.

This has allowed it to maintain its relevance as a supporter.

Two weeks ago, it was announced that James would be ending his 18-year relationship with Coca-Cola and signing with Pepsi. While the details of this deal are not known, James is expected to become the ambassador for Pepsi and Mountain Dew’s new line of energy drinks.

James had a long list of approved contracts with companies ranging from McDonald’s to State Farm to Samsung. He has interests in the Blaze Pizza restaurant chain and Liverpool Premier League FC in England.

This summer he will also release a sequel to Space Jam, which he not only directed but also starred in with his entertainment company SpringHill. According to Forbes, James got about $10 million from the movie.
