Receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. with an injury to the Cleveland Browns, was brief and kind in his reaction to his team’s playoff loss.
Beckham, who has been campaigning for the Browns in recent weeks, was inconsolable after the Chiefs led Cleveland 22-17 on Sunday.
My heart hurts, Beckham wrote.

The Browns took the lead in the second half against the Chiefs, but were unable to capitalize and ultimately lost 22-17.
It would be interesting to see what kind of impact Beckham could have if he were healthy. The Browns rushed for 204 yards against the Chiefs, and Rashard Higgins was the top pass receiver with five catches for 88 yards. Jarvis Landry, one of Beckham’s best friends, caught 7 balls for 20 yards and 1 touchdown.
Of course, we always have the mentality of playing one game at a time. We push each other that way, but you always have an end goal, Landry told reporters after the game. We’ve accomplished a lot, but I guess with all the emotions I have right now, I can’t think of everything. Like I said, I’m just proud of the effort and the way the guys played and kept fighting, even when they were down and stayed and just tried to fight. These guys, we have high standards and we have to find a way to beat these teams. It hurts, but I guess that’s part of it.

The Browns didn’t really start until the second half of the season – and then Beckham was on the bench because of an ACL tear that ended his season.
Beckham has been the subject of constant commercial rumors since his arrival in Cleveland, and this won’t be going away anytime soon.
Andrew Berry, the Browns’ first-year team director, noted that Beckham is not something the team is actively pursuing. They see him as part of the future in Cleveland.
I feel like it’s something I’ve raised literally every week since I took this job, Berry told reporters in November. So, at this point, I see no difference.
Frankly, our work with Odell, Odell is one of the best receivers in the NFL, he said. He played very good football for us before he got hurt. He has done a fantastic job with his teammates in practice, he has embraced the organization, he has been under contract for several years. So Odell and I focused on his recovery from a torn ACL. We want him to be healthy and ready for next year. But we’re happy with him.

It’s clear that the Cleveland organization is moving in the right direction, which hasn’t been the case in the last 20 years. Some plays make the Browns a perennial contender and build on the cultural changes that have taken place this season.
Obviously, there’s a turnover in the locker room every year, which is unfortunate because we had a very special group here, quarterback Baker Mayfield said. There is a new standard here, and that is to be expected. It will leave a bad taste in our guys mouths and give us extra motivation in the off season, but yes, we’ve come a long way since I’ve been here. We’re not done yet, and that’s the best part. Of course it’s a wait until next September to play, but that’s about it.
While the organization has many reasons to consider this offseason, the Mayfield expansion should be one of the easiest options. Although he’s had some tough times, the former No. 1 has proven he can be a more than capable starter in the NFL – something the Browns haven’t seen in a long time.
