I don’t know about you, but I try to avoid the Houston Texans whenever I can. Between terrible management and poor play, I’ll pretty much stay away from watching them if I can help it. Like most fans, I was pretty upset when the Texans selected Calvin Ridley with the third pick of the first round. Ridley was the top receiver prospect in this year’s draft, and it’s easy to see why. He has the speed, size, and toughness to play the slot, and he can be a potent threat from the outside. Given his athleticism, versatility, and impressive productivity at Alabama, I’m sure you can guess what I’m going to say next. The mistake the Texans made was trading up for Deshaun Watson. Of

The Houston Texans started off the NFL season 0-2, losing to the New England Patriots and failing to beat the Indianapolis Colts, both by 3 points. The Texans are hoping that the bye week gives them time to figure out a new offensive coordinator. The Texans will take on the Green Bay Packers at home this week.

The Houston Texans made a big mistake when they selected quarterback Deshaun Watson with the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. In the short term, Watson has been prolific, putting up gaudy numbers against the run and the pass. However, in the long term, the Texans will be regretting their decision to draft Watson, as he has already been losing to backup QBs in practice.. During the offseason and leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans’ roster was completely turned upside down. It all started when Deshaun Watson demanded a trade and refused to play, which then led to sexual assault allegations against the star quarterback.

The Texans had no options in the first two rounds and very little room to play.

It’s been a nightmare for the Texans in recent years. When Bill O’Brien was head coach and general manager, he threw a lot of money at Laremy Tunsil. Then he fired Jedevon Clowney and traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals. J.J. Watt eventually left the organization as well and joined Hopkins in sunny Arizona.

The team has been decimated, the quarterback has a criminal record, and the front office is stuck due to the limited space available. The franchise has dug itself into a hole that it now has to climb out of.

Despite the fact that there are only five picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, the front office was able to make some good picks for the Texans. In the third round of the draft, they acquired Nico Collins, a solid receiver with a lot of potential. The team also acquired Brevin Jordan in the fifth round, considered by many to be the best third round pick in the draft. End of the line considered in this year’s draft.

Houston also selected quarterback Davis Mills with the first pick. Given the uncertainty surrounding Watson, the Texans did their best to find insurance in case he missed time.

While each of these decisions were reasonable, the Houston Texans made a big mistake that could have been fatal for the team. The team was bad last year too, but this is the second year in a row that Houston is at the bottom of the standings. This team needs a facelift, and fast.

So here’s the big mistake the Texans made in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Texans’ NFL Draft Error:

They didn’t draft a single player on the offensive line

Last year, the Houston Texans allowed a total of 50 sacks, placing them second in the NFL. That’s a concern for Deshaun Watson, who ran for his life on almost every pass. While it’s still undecided whether Watson will play next year, completely ignoring the weakest part of the offense in the draft is the wrong approach.

Davis Mills was a smart insurance choice, but was he the right one? There were plenty of talented offensive linemen in the third round that Houston could have chosen. Instead, they panicked at the situation with Watson, and took a starting quarterback who may never get on the field.

Get ready to have a field day with the opposing defense in the game against the Texans.

With a weak offensive line, a mediocre group of wide receivers, an aging running back core and a questionable quarterback situation, it will be a long season for the Houston Texans. If they drafted an offensive lineman, at least they have something to develop this season in hopes of getting more playing time in the future. Instead, Houston will make do with what it has.

The Houston Texans drafted Deshaun Watson with the 12th overall pick of the 2017 draft. The Texans traded up for Watson after selecting three quarterbacks, but Watson didn’t have the best rookie year. Watson started as a rookie and had a rough season, throwing 13 interceptions and only completing 59% of his passes for 2,967 yards, with a rating of 76.8. Before the Houston Texans drafted Deshaun Watson in the 2017 NFL Draft, I made a prediction about how the Texans would draft. I wasn’t very sure what the Texans would do, but I had a feeling they would trade up. In my comment about the Texans in the draft, I said “If I’m the Texans, I trade up with Atlanta just.
