The search for supplies turns into a battle for survival when Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) and Aaron (Ross Marquand) meet a deranged Mace (Robert Patrick) in the 10th extended season of The Walking Dead. Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Scorpio are among the previously announced guest stars who appear in six new bonus episodes of the post-war zombie drama Whisperer, in which the bloodthirsty Gabriel takes revenge on Siddique (Avi Nash) when he brutally kills Whisperer’s spy Dante (Juan Javier Cardenas). After the “Whisperers” are silenced, faith is shattered and optimism broken when Gabriel and Aaron are finally put to the test in “One More.”
“We’re going to see Aaron and Gabriel in an old Walking Dead survival story that tells us a lot about the state of Alexandria, which will be very, very important to the story to come,” executive producer and showrunner Angela Kang revealed during a special preview of “The Walking Dead Extended Season 10 Preview Special.”
As a drunk Gabriel and Aaron Gabriel call on his desk collar. Mocking the priest by using his Bible pages as toilet paper, Mays contrasts Gabriel’s faith with his belief in goodness: “Who are you trying to convince, Father? Me? Or you?
“It’s an episode I love. It’s really kind of a survival story, a classic Walking Dead story, just our people in the world looking for food. It’s simple, basic stuff, but in reality these characters are imbued with a pretty deep philosophy about the state of the world, about what they believe, that people are redeemable,” Kahn said. “I think both Father Gabriel and Aaron have taken an interesting journey in terms of worldview, so a lot of things come to mind.”
Kang continued, “Then Robert Patrick, who I’ve always been a fan of, came on to play this guest role, and I think the trio going out of their way is something very special that I hope people will enjoy.
Off-screen, Gilliam says, Patrick is “very lovable” and has a self-deprecating sense of humor. When Patrick plays the role of Mays, “he is incredibly tense when the cameras are rolling and has a hawkish focus. You get a little lost in his gaze until he strikes.”
“I’m really excited about the episode that Seth and I did, because we were able to work with one of my favorite actors that I’ve watched grow up. Working with Robert Patrick was so much fun for me because I grew up seeing him in “Terminator 2,” of course, but also in “The X-Files,” “Cop Land” and so many other incredible programs,” Markand added, “It was so much fun working with him, but he was also very passionate about his work, you could see the gears turning in his head. I’m really excited for the fans to see what he did.
The premiere of “One More” will be on Sunday, March 14 at AMC.
