For a long time, the Cleveland Browns had a reputation for winning the season, but in the regular season, the Browns performed higher and had a losing record. This time it’s different. Cleveland is a winning organization with a record of 11 wins and 5 losses. They also nearly beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round. The Browns are winning this season, and that should lead to even more wins next season.

Cleveland used a significant portion of its assets to commit a serious crime. They used first-round pick quarterback Baker Mayfield and gave big contracts to receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. The duo has the biggest cap hits to their name.

Cleveland invested in the offensive line through free agency and the draft and now has the best line in football with three of its members on All-Pro teams, guards Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller and tackle Jack Conklin. Running back Nick Chubb was the second pick and has been fantastic for Cleveland.

With all the resources spent on designing the Browns’ offense, it’s clear that the most pressing decision on the other side of the ball this season was to sign extra wideout Rashard Higgins to a modest contract, which was a smart move in itself.

The Browns have improved their defense with the acquisition of safety John Johnson III and cornerback Troy Hill. The depth of the defensive line was increased with the hiring of Tuckarist McKinley and Malik Jackson. Linebacker Anthony Walker was also selected by the Indianapolis Colts.

Even with the aforementioned tag, Cleveland’s biggest need is a mix between an edge rusher alongside Myles Garrett and a top linebacker. Because of the importance of the terrain, the edge brush is a more pressing need.

McKinley plays primarily as an alternate setter. After four years in the league, he’s an average passer. It’s rarely used in racing games, and when it is used, it’s more of a liability. McKinley has the tools to get better against the run. But maybe the team will find something better than McKinley in the draft.

While there are no top 5 picks in the upcoming draft, there are a few candidates that could boost the pass rush. Some first round options for the Browns include Miami Hurricanes Gregory Russo and Jaylen Phillips.

They are similar in size and weight, but Russo has a larger frame and ridiculous length. As a bonus, he can even be set up in a defensive scrum if needed. He has great physical skills, but he is still working on his technique. The Philips, on the other hand, is a versatile device and has a powerful motor. He puts a lot of speed into this position. Both players are injury prone, so the team will have to evaluate them carefully.

Garrett’s double jab and first-round edge rush create problems for opposing quarterbacks and are a step in the right direction for the Browns to win the Super Bowl.
