The star of Saved By The Bell, Dustin Diamond, has sadly passed away at the age of 44, leaving fans thinking back to the best moments of the series with his character Screech.

The star of this very popular show was recently diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. His representative subsequently confirmed that the actor died on Monday at the same time as his girlfriend.

Dustin, who starred in the hit series Screech, has been honored by his former co-stars. Mario Lopez, Marc-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffany Thiessen paid a huge tribute to the late actor on social media.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dustin Diamond, a true comedy genius. My sincere condolences to his family and friends, Mark-Paul tweeted.

I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of my old star @realdustindiamond. Life is extremely fragile, and we should never take it for granted. God forbid Dustin, Tiffany adds.

Dustin has played the character of Screech on screen for 13 years and has brought joy to many in his role as Screech – here are some of his finest moments from Saved by The Bell.

Remember when Screech created a sentient robot in his room, named Kevin, with a sarcastic speech and the ability to make cocoa? It’s one of those things that went a little unnoticed in the first round, and an incredible success, by the looks of it.

In the same episode, Zach asks Screech to be Kelly’s guardian and is jealous when she falls in love with him. It’s one of Screech’s best moments.

Miss Bayside Contest

In a memorable episode of the second season, Screech emerged victorious in the Miss Bayside pageant. While others regularly kept the spotlight on him, it was a rare opportunity to see Screech take first place in a gender-neutral contest. Along the way, he defeated Kelly Kapowski (Tiffany Thiessen) and A.C. Slater – even though Kevin the Robot gave him a black eye.

Screen for Zach

The friendship between Zack and Screech didn’t always go well in the series. Although there is an obvious connection between the two, Zach used it a lot. This is the pivotal moment in the season 4 episode of Bayside Triangle, where Screech takes on Zack and rips his shirt off after catching him kissing his lover, Lisa Turtle.

Screech takes over the Chessmaster

He hasn’t always had the chance to be a hero, but Screech got the chance to be famous in the third episode of the season Check Your Mate. He saw a local chess master from the Valley – a Russian exchange student – in the spotlight. Violet also encourages him in the big episode for Screech.

Replacement Reptile

One of the funniest moments came when Slater asked him to take a look at the season 4 episode of Slater’s Friend.

When the lizard dies, Screech and Zach go on a hunt to find a replacement in time – and have a lot of fun doing it.

You even see Slater in a weird lizard costume when he asks what causes Screech’s guilt that gives him strange dreams.
