At the beginning of the week, Manchester United captain Luke Shaw sent a message to the club’s board on Twitter. In it, he asked them to “please release the funds to pay the completion fee” for a potential transfer to Manchester City. The reason being, the 20-year-old was unhappy with his current contract at Old Trafford and wanted to move in order to further his career.

It looks like Manchester United fans will have to wait a little longer for the arrival of their latest Old Trafford signing, Luke Shaw. The 21-year-old was hoping to have completed his move to Manchester United by the time of our deadline, but reports have emerged that the deal is not yet finished. The reasons for this are unclear, but the fact that Manchester United are prepared to pay up to £27 million for the England international suggests that the move is close.. Luke Shaw has said that he hopes to see one or two new faces at Manchester United in the summer transfer window, as the extra competition will only help the team achieve their goals.

The Red Devils secured a place in the Champions League this season by finishing second in the English league behind Manchester City. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can win his first trophy as head coach tomorrow night when his side take on Villarreal in the Europa League final.

After struggling with form and fitness in recent years, Shaw has emerged as one of United’s key players in an excellent season. The 25-year-old was included in Gareth Southgate’s provisional squad for this summer’s European Championships on Tuesday.

Shaw’s future came under threat when Solskjaer brought in Alex Telles from Porto last October, but the former Southampton left-back has risen to the challenge and believes the tough approach will help the club in the future.

With the team we have, she is so talented. We have a good mix of experienced players and young players, but even the youngsters have played so many times that they now have experience, Shaw told the Manchester Evening News.

The manager recently said he wants to attract one or two more players. I think we would all welcome it with open arms. Anything that can improve our team and increase our chances at the next level is always good for the team.

It’s enough that the competition pushes me, but if we can do that at different positions, I think we can push each other and it’s only good for a manager to have that competition and the difficult decision of who to pick. This is something we need to improve.

Shaw added: I think we are moving in the right direction and you can see improvements.

But to be honest, we still have a lot to learn. Especially this season, we look at the points lost and how and why that happened.

Shaw, who was absent through injury four years ago when United last took the Europa League trophy, believes that with a win against Villarreal in Gdansk the team can prove they are on the right track.

I was a bit unlucky last time, I wasn’t there, Shaw told reporters at United’s pre-match press conference with Solskjaer and Bruno Fernandes on Tuesday afternoon.

This season, especially now, I personally think there is a lot more confidence and belief in the team and we are getting better as a team. It’s the next step to get out there and show that we’re headed in the right direction. There is a lot of confidence and belief that we are taking the right steps and this is another step in the right direction.

A medal would mean a lot. When you join Manchester United, you want to win trophies. We’ve missed out on a few trophies in recent years and I know how disappointed the boys were.

There is a great motivation to have fun, but also to give everything to win.

I look around and everyone seems very relaxed, enjoying the moment being here in the finals. We haven’t seen one of those in a long time. I think most guys are just looking forward to being on the field. No need to be nervous, we’re here for a reason, I think we deserve to be here.

On Wednesday night we just have to do what we did to get here and hope we come back with a trophy.

We have studied Villarreal in the last few days after the big win against Wolves, but we have to concentrate on ourselves and all the players will do their best to win this trophy and try to finish the season in the right way.
