The Seattle Seahawks are looking for a new offensive coordinator after parting ways with Brian Schottenheimer, and may be looking for a coach who has plenty of experience working with quarterbacks. Josina Anderson, an NFL insider, said the Seahawks may consider former Chargers quarterback Pep Hamilton as an option for their next offensive coordinator.
The Seahawks may also consider bringing in NFL offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton, who has also been involved in the Chargers’ offense and has worked closely with Justin Herbert as the team’s coach and Andrew Luck in the past to expand opportunities for others, Anderson noted on Twitter.

Pep Hamilton has worked with several great quarterbacks, including Andrew Luck and Justin Herbert.
If the Seahawks turn to Hamilton, the team is clearly hoping that working with other top quarterbacks can have a positive effect on Russell Wilson. Hamilton’s resume includes work with Justin Herbert and Andrew Luck, as well as NFL stops with the Chargers, Browns, Colts, Bears, 49ers and Jets. The coach has also spent time at the University of Michigan, Stanford and Howard.
Earlier in the season, Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn praised Hamilton’s impact on the rookie Herbert’s success. Herbert was one of the top recruits in the 2020 draft class, and Lynn thinks Hamilton has what it takes to be a potential head coach.
I have no doubt that Pep Hamilton can be the head coach of this league, Hamilton said in an interview with the Associated Press in November 2020. He was a great influence on Justin. That’s why I brought him here. He’s a man who can put himself in people’s shoes. He’s a good communicator, very smart.
The Seahawks have also been linked to former Chargers offensive coordinator Shane Steichen.
Lynn was fired as head coach of the Chargers after the season and the Seahawks have been linked to several members of his coaching staff. According to NFL’s Mike Garafolo, the Seahawks are also interested in former Chargers offensive coordinator Shane Steichen.
He just mentioned @NFLTotalAccess that Shane Steichen is on the Seahawks’ list as offensive coordinator, Garafolo said on Twitter. They wanted to manage football more efficiently, like Anthony Lynn did when he joined the Chargers’ OC in Stachen.
One of the key questions is not only who the Seahawks hire, but how much power head coach Pete Carroll will give to the team’s next offensive coordinator. Carroll admitted to interfering with the Seahawks’ offensive philosophy during the season and even disallowed the call on fourth down against the Rams, resulting in a late penalty. The Seahawks’ coach has made it clear he wants the offense to refocus on its rushing attack next season, but Carroll’s potential involvement may limit Seattle’s coordinators.
We need to manage the ball better, not better, we need to manage it more, noted Carroll on the eve of the split with Schottenheimer, according to Seattle 950 KJR. We need to dictate what happens to the people we play, and this is one way to do it.
