Kevin Durant answers questions at the Brooklyn Nets’ media day.
Kevin Durant, star of the Brooklyn Nets, is no stranger to the world of social media. In fact, if you look at the story, Durant probably interacts with his fans more on social media than any other athlete his size.
Durant is active on many social media platforms, but of all his accounts, he is probably the most active on Twitter. KD always responds to tweets in which fans personally make fun of him or his performance in the game. A recent study revealed that his activity on the site has made the Nets star one of the biggest villains on social media.
Kevin Durant among the most hated accounts on Twitter
As reported by Alex Kennedy of Basketball News, a new study by Top Ranked Casinos has collected the NBA players who receive the most negative tweets.
They collected about 3,000 tweets sent to various NBA players between October 2020 and January 2021, and each tweet was analyzed for positive, negative and neutral words using the online analysis tool SEMrush, Kennedy writes.
Steph Curry, Russell Westbrook, Joel Embiid, LeBron James and Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant are among the top five players on the list. Durant’s teammate, Kyrie Irving, was right behind him, sixth on the list.
Kevin Durant is no stranger to Twitter chess
This isn’t Durant’s first Twitter debacle. In 2017, the two-time MVP finalist was caught red-handed insulting a fan. Harmless, isn’t it? That would be the case if Durant didn’t think he was reacting to the fan on his burn bill.
A burner account is a secondary social media account used by a prominent or high-profile person to express their true opinion on certain topics that may be considered controversial. Durant explained in detail why he chose to use burners in 2019.

I’m not used to that kind of attention, you know, playing basketball. I needed a place where I could talk to my friends without wasting time and mixing up words and taking things out of context because I was enjoying myself here, Durant said during his speech in the boardroom.
I try to lead a normal social life. ….

Athletes spend most of their lives in the spotlight, even before they play professionally. They never had the chance to live a normal life. So in a way, it’s understandable that you have a burner account.
I had an Instagram account that I only used for my friends and family. It’s a cool place for me to be myself instead of worrying about the Bleacher Report or the barstool ruining everything I have to say, Durant said.
KD Always use a burner account
Although KD’s fire letter was one of the low points of his career, he admits he still uses it today.
I still have a Twitter account on fire. When people used that burner thing on me, they thought I was just there to talk to S.T. But I’ve been in a lot of different communities on my burner, Durant told Barstool via NBC Sports.
So, when I deleted it, I said to myself: What the hell is… These people made me delete something I love, my engraver account. So I have another one. I just do my own thing on the side, you know.
As perfect as Durant is, it’s no wonder he’s one of the most hated athletes on Twitter. Winning a third championship this year will only increase people’s contempt for him.
