After learning that Stefan Brent (Paul Opacic) is paying people off in order to ensure Corey’s (Maximus Evans) release, Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) has vowed to bring him down in emotionally charged Coronation Street scenes.
As fans are aware, Corey is on trial for the murder of Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni), who died tragically in a hate-crime assault in May.
Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher), who was also hurt in the assault, testified earlier this week that she saw Corey kick her boyfriend, not Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson), who is also on trial.
During tonight’s double-bill of the ITV soap, Corey’s friend Eli was cross-examined and claimed that Corey did not assault Seb – before pointing the blame at Kelly!
Kelly stood up, shocked by the young man’s allegations, and told the court that Eli’s statements could not be believed.
The court was not happy, and neither did Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo), who attempted all he could to keep Kelly quiet. However, it was obvious that she wanted to say something.
Kelly made a bold allegation, claiming that Corey’s father had bought Eli off in exchange for his son’s release.
‘Did your father pay him to lie for you?’ Corey, she said. ‘How much did that set you back?’

Kelly was taken out of the courtroom on the judge’s instructions, but Abi, who was sitting in the gallery, seemed to be disturbed by Kelly’s remarks and questioned whether they were true.
Later, outside the courthouse, the bereaved mother approached Stefan, wanting to know whether Kelly was telling the truth.
She replied, ‘Kelly had you figured out.’ ‘When she kicked off, I saw your face.’
Stefan scoffed at such accusations, accusing Abi of defamation, but acknowledged that he was spending his money on the finest legal teams because he “could afford it.”
Abi, on the other hand, has determined to learn all she can about the extent to which he has gone.
She began her inquiry as soon as she arrived home, doing online research on Stefan’s business and the individuals he is connected with on social media.
She discovered the mysterious guy who sat behind her in the gallery at court had an internet profile, and after a little more investigation, she learned that he was none other than Eli’s father.
Abi persisted in her search, certain she was on to something, until she discovered precisely what she was searching for!
‘Eli’s father recently announced a position as a senior logistics consultant at Corey’s father’s business two weeks ago,’ she informed Kevin Webster (Michel Le Vell).
‘It may be [a coincidence], but it seems to me to be made up! And can you guess what he was doing before that? Driver of a delivery truck!

Kevin was shocked and told Abi to report her findings to the police. Abi said that she plans to do so, emphasizing that she would be ‘bringing this guy down.’
