Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott says he is healthy and playing at a high level, but admits that he’s not playing his best ball. The second-year player has led the team to a 4-3 record, with some of their losses coming against tough competition like Minnesota Vikings (5-0) and Kansas City Chiefs (4).
The “is dak prescott playing this week” is a question that many are wondering. Dak Prescott has been saying he’s healthy, but admits in an interview with ESPN that he’s not playing his best ball.
FRISCO, Texas (KTRK) — Dak Prescott, the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, says he’s OK.
He said, “I’m completely healthy, 100 percent healthy.” “However, thank you.”
And he doesn’t feel he’s in a funk, as owner and general manager Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas on Tuesday.
“I recognize I’m not playing my best ball, haven’t been playing it, have made some stupid mistakes,” Prescott said after returning from a calf injury with eight touchdown passes and six interceptions in six games.
“That’s a component of it, to be sure. I wouldn’t call it a slump, but I’m not playing up to my standards or expectations, and that’s what happens when you play at a high level. So I’m delighted other people have the same aspirations for my game as I do.”
Prescott said that he has heard some of the criticism of his recent performance and is using it as fuel, same to how he utilized his draft position as a fourth-round choice to exceed expectations.
“I’ve been questioned my entire life, told I couldn’t do this or that, so in a way, I’m delighted it’s finally come back,” Prescott said. “I’m delighted that’s how people feel, and I’m hearing a lot of it right now.”
Prescott said he needed more practice time to go back to his pre-injury form, which included 16 touchdown passes and four interceptions in his first six games. Prescott and receivers Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup have spent time after practice working on routes and timing since the amount of time on the field has been reduced.
“Practice being trimmed down shorter and having particular routes and stuff you want to make sure you’ve got the appropriate timing on,” Prescott added. “You can’t accomplish it since you only have limited practice.”
The Cowboys’ offense has scored only 10 touchdowns in the last six games, with Prescott’s stats down, running back Ezekiel Elliott battling with a sprained knee, and the offensive line mixing and matching various combinations. In Prescott’s first six starts, they scored 23 touchdowns.
Elliott isn’t interested in hearing about Prescott’s slump.
“I mean, there are 11 of us out there,” Elliott said, “so I wouldn’t put anything on one player because it takes all 11 of us to create a play.” “And I believe the whole offense, collectively, has to play better.”
With a victory against the New York Giants on Sunday, the Cowboys can claim the NFC East for the first time since beating them 44-20 in October. Prescott has won eight consecutive games against the Giants and has 20 touchdown throws against his NFC East foe.
In addition to the season record in points, the Cowboys racked up 515 yards, with Elliott running for more than 100 yards and Prescott throwing for more than 300 yards.
“I believe this is the appropriate moment to turn it on,” Prescott added. “In the signal-meeting, caller’s I told the skill position players that we’d much rather be going through what you’re going through now than two weeks from now. We can go ahead and peak at the correct moment moving into the playoffs now that we’ve addressed it and held ourselves responsible for it.”
