In Milwaukee snow may have fallen from the sky, but in Miami the Bucks rained Tuesday night on the other side of the arch.
Milwaukee set an NBA one-game goal record with a 3-point score, including 29 in the 144-97 victory over the Heat.
The only Bucs player who has not admitted a three-point kiss is MVP and defensive player of the year Giannis Antetokounmpo. The nine points are the lowest since 22. December 2018, where he also scored nine points in the AmericanAirlines Arena against the heat, this time in a Bucks defeat.
Two years later, when the Bucs met de Heat on their first night in Miami, the result was very different. The 47 point victory is the third highest victory margin for the defending conference champions, according to ESPN Stats & Information. It was also the biggest home defeat in the team’s history.
Some nights the basketball gods are with you, and this is probably one of those nights for us, said Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer.
Milwaukee shot 29 times of the 51 (56.9%) from outside the arch in the biggest shutout victory in the history of the franchise.
Sam Merrill went down on the 28th with 6:07 left in the fourth quarter. Three points for Milwaukee, beating the Houston Rockets’ 27-point lead to 7. April 2019 against the Phoenix Suns.
It’s exciting. Be in the right place at the right time, shoot at will, he says. The way we shot on Sunday night [in the 20-point loss to the Knicks], we felt like we were going to have a good night. It’s pretty crazy how everything was filmed, so it was a lot of fun.
Miami played without leader Jimmy Butler, who was absent due to a sprained right ankle. Tyler Herro van Milwaukee led the Heat with 23 points and seven assists.
Wingster Khris Middleton continued his strong start for the Bucks with 25 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds on a shooting percentage of 10 for 13, reaching 4 out of 5 trios. Middleton achieved an average of 26.7 points in the first four matches.
It’s great to see, but I think it shows that Giannis has confidence in himself, that he doesn’t have to go and try to create the offense himself, Middleton said. He notices that shots can be heard all around him. If these guys see a crowd or two, three guys around him, he can find the guy open.
In addition to a solid defense, Jrue Holiday scored 24 points and seven assists, who scored 6 out of 10 shots on three points. Brook Lopez struck three times and scored 14 points.
While the Bucks (2-2) closed their record at the end of the fourth quarter, Middleton and Lopez both took advantage of the opportunity thanks to the strength and conditioning of the coach on the sidelines.
Even though victory was more important, it was a great moment we shared.
Honestly, I crossed my fingers a little because it’s a steep plate, but I was just happy to see all our guys clicking and moving selflessly and sharing the ball and ball going in, Lopez said.
