In a performance that will have left his manager fuming, Paul Pogba’s unbeaten start to the season was ended in brutal style as a rampant Leeds United side wreaked havoc on Manchester United’s backline. The home side’s goalscoring prowess, as well as their impressive defensive display, was enough to hold the Red Devils to just a goal in the first half, but the French playmaker’s first half showing was enough to leave the club’s manager furious.

Manchester United won 3-1 in their final Premier League match of the season, and so it is true that Paul Pogba has now set a Premier League record for the number of assists in a single season. The record was previously held by former Leeds United midfielder Robert Lee, who had 14 assists in the 1987-88 season. The previous best set by a United player was by Ryan Giggs, who managed to get 13 assists in the 1999-00 season.

A record-breaking Paul Pogba performance led Manchester United to a 3-1 win over rivals Leeds on Saturday. Pogba scored two goals and set up a third in the English Championship. The French midfielder became the first player in the Premier League to score more than 50 goals in their first 50 games.. Read more about paul pogba and let us know what you think.

During Manchester United’s thrashing 5-1 win against Leeds at Old Trafford on Saturday, Paul Pogba became the first player in Premier League history to record four assists in a single game.

Prior to kick-off, a full audience was given to a first look at the club’s newest acquisition, Raphael Varane, who looked on as his France international teammate put on a midfield masterclass.

United had an electrifying start, spurred on by over 70,000 fans for the first time in 18 months, but had to wait until the half-hour mark to score when Pogba supplied Bruno Fernandes, who just about squeezed his shot past the advancing Illan Meslier.

Soon after the half, Luke Ayling equalized with a rasping shot from 25 yards, but four minutes later, Pogba turned the tide back in the home side’s favor with a brilliant ball, playing in Mason Greenwood, who tore past the Leeds goalkeeper and beat Meslier through the inside of the post.

Despite Ayling’s best efforts on the line, Fernandes was able to turn inside and add to his score 120 seconds later, when Pogba’s ball played him a little wide.

Fernandes had gone 14 Premier League games without scoring from open play, but he stormed back into form on Saturday, completing a magnificent hat-trick by latching onto Harry Maguire’s pass over the top and sending a soaring volley past the helpless Leeds goalkeeper.

When Pogba sprinted down the left side and crossed low for Fred, who put a merciless finishing touch with a precise low shot, there was still time for him to make history.

Pogba’s performance, however, was an unequivocal answer to those who questioned if his devotion to the cause was complete, considering that he is in the last year of his contract and is linked with a transfer to PSG.

At his pre-match news conference, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said of Pogba’s future: ‘It’s been spoken about a lot, but every conversation I’ve had with Paul has been good.’

‘He understands what we want, and ideally it will remain in the background while Paul and I make a choice together.’

‘It (the situation) will always be this way with Paul since he is a media ‘magnet.’
