The Detroit Lions are leading the NFC North with a 7-2 record, but some fans insist on reading more into their losses. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is tired of talking about ‘the narrative’ and he has also had enough of the constant comparison to his predecessor Matt Ryan, who leads all NFL quarterbacks in wins by eight games.

Matthew Stafford has been traded to the Detroit Lions, and he is not happy about it. Read more in detail here: matthew stafford trade.

Getty Matthew Stafford warms up before the game against the New York Giants on Sunday, October 17th.

For the first time in his NFL career, Matthew Stafford will not be attempting to throw touchdown passes with the Detroit Lions on the same football field. Instead, he will be the opposition quarterback.

On Sunday at SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford will face his former club in a game that has a revenge/reunion feel to it. Meanwhile, former Rams quarterback Jared Goff has said that he would have a “chip on the shoulder” and will approach the game as if it were any other.

Obviously, adjectives like “emotional,” “retaliation,” or the two aforementioned “R” words are used to describe the buildup for Lions vs. Rams. Stafford, on the other hand, does not have vengeance on his former NFL job on his mind. In fact, he told the Los Angeles media on Wednesday evening that he doesn’t put much stock in the next competition’s drama.

“To be honest with you, I didn’t spend too much time thinking about that or reading that story,” Stafford remarked around the 10 minute mark of the presser video below. “I’m just very focused on what we’re doing here and doing all I can to make sure we succeed.”

Stafford shrugged off a Lions reunion right away.

Stafford instantly saw the Lions game in this perspective after his four-touchdown pass day at MetLife Stadium in the 38-11 blowout of the New York Giants on Sunday, October 17.

“It’s an NFL opponent coming into our building, just like every other game,” he said after the game in East Rutherford, New Jersey. “Do I have a lot of experience with them?” Absolutely. Is it possible that I’ll say hello to some former teammates and friends before the game? Hopefully, the Ford family, if they make the trip? Absolutely. I’ve only had positive interactions with folks over there. Have a great deal of respect for the company, the team, and the owners. Once the ball is snapped, it’ll simply be another football game, but I’ll make an effort to say hello to those folks I haven’t seen in a while.”

Stafford is still feeling the same way about the next game three days after the road victory.

“I just go about my week,” Stafford said. “I study video, I come out here to practice and try to execute at a very high level, and I try to be as mentally and physically ready as I can for a game on Sunday.”

Stafford has interacted with Goff in the past.

When asked whether he knew Goff, Stafford revealed that the new Rams quarterback and the former Ram had crossed paths previously.

Stafford replied, “A little bit.” “In the offseason, he and I work with the same man, so I run see him from time to time. I’ve texted with him a few times, but we’re not really close.”

In terms of matchups, Goff is 1-0 against Stafford-led teams: on December 2, 2018, he led the Rams to a 30-16 away triumph against a Lions squad managed by Stafford. That afternoon, both Goff and Stafford threw a touchdown throw.

This time, the roles are flipped, and the game has been well-prepared. Stafford, on the other hand, isn’t concerned with the game’s plot.

“Right now, I’m focused on what’s happening on in my world, which is trying to help this team win,” Stafford said. “There’s no denying that this is a difficult industry. To be honest with you, I don’t spend nearly as much time thinking about it all. I’m overjoyed to finally be here. I’m pinching myself for being able to play for this squad and these coaches.

“I’m not going to make a comparison between it and Detroit. I simply know I’m having a wonderful time playing football with some fantastic players and coaches. My stay in Detroit was fantastic. All of my encounters were fantastic. Some of them were really difficult. But they were essential in shaping me into the athlete and person I am today.”

The “how old is matthew stafford” is a question that has been asked many times. In an interview with ESPN, Matthew Stafford said he isn’t into the “narrative.”
