The Baltimore Ravens had a very successful off-season, landing a plethora of free-agent signings. But the team’s most surprising free-agent acquisition still hasn’t arrived in Charm City: Wide receiver Odafe Oweh.

The Baltimore Ravens watched their new wide receivers perform with the first team Friday during practice, and they came away very impressed with what they saw from Justin Madubuike and Odafe Oweh.

The Ravens signed defensive back Odafe Oweh to a one-year deal this offseason. The former Buffalo Bills defensive back is a solid player who will be a reliable member of the defense. That being said, the team also has many other players who will be fighting for a spot on the final 53 man roster.  The Ravens have two players who will be battling for the final two cornerback roster spots. Justin Madubuike is currently the fifth-string cornerback, but he will be looking to impress his new teammates. Madubuike made the team as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Illinois in 2016.  Odafe Oweh, an undrafted free agent out of the University of Connecticut, will also. The Baltimore Ravens had some serious deficiencies on defense this season, and a concern for many was the defensive front.

Many wondered if the Ravens would have enough depth on the team to handle a mass exodus from the team. As it turned out, they had other plans for the lineup and some players on the roster that many fans may have forgotten about.

Penn State quarterback Odafe Oveh has joined the team, and right now it’s clear that Oveh shouldn’t be a forgotten man when it comes to the role he can play in the offense for the Ravens. The team recently took a look at Ove, and it’s clear that he’s taken an absolutely incredible leap…

But not only that: Justin Madubuike could become a player in his own right. The young fullback and linebacker also showed his strength during the running drills in camp, he looked agile and strong.

Both players are the kind of fierce competitors the Ravens could use well on the front line, so let’s hope they continue to develop well.

Madubuike: statistics and highlights

It’s not hard to imagine why some may have forgotten about Madubuik, but after the 2020 NFL Draft, his name was called one of the biggest steals of the entire draft. Last season, Texas A&M’s quarterback had 19 interceptions and just one sack, as well as 2 quarterback hits and 2 interceptions for a loss, but based on these videos, it’s clear he could be running for more in 2021. He only played in 10 games, including just three starts, but in college he has long shown the type of frame and performance that can make him a solid NFL player.

Justin Madubuike: Future star Justin Madubuike had a little celebration Monday night against the Browns. PFF rated him with 4 pressures and an overall score of over 90 (elite score). Sorry I’ve been gone so long. Do you think this is a distraction from a game or is it a sign…2020-12-18T20:02:39Z

Madubuike’s college performance was good: 105 interceptions, 11 sacks, 1 interception and 5 forced fumbles. The next step will be to see how he can translate those accomplishments to the NFL.

section Raven’s edge called naked

It’s a given that the Ravens don’t have many players at this key position. The Ravens roster has undergone many changes this season, and although they added Odafe Oveh in the draft, some think it’s enough. There is no doubt that the team will have to replace some players who have left key positions up front.

Recently, writer Dan Parr took an in-depth look at the key recruiting needs of every team in the league. As for Voronov, he thinks the team has a big need on defense, as several key players will need to be drafted to help the defense and disrupt the pass rusher.

He said:

The buffet seems a little empty around the edges. The replacement of Matt Judon and Yannick Ngakue is necessary. As for Lamar Jackson’s backup team, the acquisitions of Sammy Watkins and Kevin Zeitler should not keep Baltimore from adding receivers and an offensive line, especially since Orlando Brown has asked to be traded.

The Ravens may have already solved this problem with Oveh, and the emergence of Madibuke should not be underestimated at this point either. The emergence of these two could be a major reason why the Ravens will be in a good position in the trenches.
