Since the end of the collaboration between Marvel and Netflix, the rights to series like Daredevil, Punisher and Luke Cage have finally returned to Marvel studios. Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of some of these characters, and although no official announcement has been made, it is assumed that they will appear in one of the many projects on the horizon of the MCU. Unfortunately, Luke Cage’s star Mike Colter says it’s unlikely he’ll come back for the character’s return.

The actor confirmed that he has had no conversations with Marvel since the show was cancelled, and that he rarely considers resuming his role as a bulletproof Harlem hero.

I have to say that I rarely think about it in terms of what could or will be, I know the fans want to see something with the character. I know I made it and it was an honour to do it, but I don’t know what the future holds, I’m in Evil mode now and I have some breakup movies. If anything happens, I’d like to talk to them, but as long as I don’t hold my breath, I’m happy, it was a good race.

Luke Cage follows the evolution of a beloved Marvel character who becomes a hired hero trying to find a quiet life in Harlem, New York. Starring Mike Coulter, the series is a gritty, action-packed drama that follows the seated hero after a sabotaged experiment and gives him superpowers and indestructible skin. Although Luke Cage’s two seasons never reached the peak of other Netflix comics, they were well received by viewers and critics alike. Coulter’s central performance was considered a solid reflection of the character, and no doubt many Marvel fans will be disappointed to hear that he probably won’t be coming back.

Netflix discontinued the series in October 2018. If the rights of the character have now returned to Marvel, there would have been contractual obligations between them and the current giant, which means that Luke Cage can not be restored for some time. Fortunately this ended earlier this year, so Hero for Hire can now be used in future projects.

Of course, Luke Cage isn’t the only Marvel character who remains in limbo after his release on Netflix, as fans eagerly await Charlie Cox’s Daredevil to join the MCU. Although the actor has poured cold water on the idea of his return to the past, rumors are circulating that his version of the Fearless Man will play a role in the next Spider-Man 3. The resolution becomes more and more plausible as it seems that every character ever created will appear in the next trio.

If Daredevil remains the only one in Spider-Man 3, it is quite possible that lawyer Matt Murdock’s alter ego will appear on Disney+ in the next She-Hulk series. Kevin Feige doesn’t care, since Jennifer Walters is a lawyer specializing in legal superhero cases, you never know which Marvel characters will appear from one episode to the next.

Mike Colter plays in the thriller Fatale alongside Hilary Swank and Michael Ealy. It came to us through Comingsoon.net.
