Paul Pobga and Eric Bailey said goodbye to Timothy Fosu-Mensah at Manchester United.

Bayer Leverkusen’s new signing Timothy Fosu-Mensah has parted ways with Manchester United (Snapchat).

Timothy Fosu-Mensah shared a video of him being accompanied by Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly on Manchester United’s training ground after Bayer Leverkusen announced his signing on Wednesday.

Fosu-Mensah has made just nine first-team appearances in all competitions over the past two seasons for United and he would like Old Trafford to call him up again for more consistent game time.

Leverkusen and United have reportedly reached an agreement of around £1.5m – despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s efforts to keep hold of Fosu-Mensah – and the 23-year-old, who has a three-year contract at BayArena, has been involved.

The Dutch international could make his Bundesliga debut as early as Friday when Leverkusen travelled to Union Berlin.

Fosu-Mensah has been with United since 2014, when he joined the Ajax academy. The Dutchman has naturally developed close ties with many teammates and people associated with the club in his six-and-a-half years in the North West.

Two of Fosu-Mensah’s closest friends, Pogba and Bailey, were particularly sad to see him go, but they sent their best wishes and said goodbye to him as the versatile defender left Carrington’s door.

In a short clip uploaded on the Fosu-Mensah Snapchat, Pogba said My brother from another mother! Watch the video, it’s an encore! Take the chance.

Take care, brother. You know what, I don’t watch Germany much, but I just got this!

We are praying for you, we will miss you too much! Who makes me laugh? Him? ! (Bailey)

On this day we will remember.

Fosu-Mensah revealed that in-depth interviews with Leverkusen bosses Simon Rolfes and Rudi Voller convinced him that there were great prospects at the club and persuaded him to leave the Dream Theatre this winter.

I have spoken a lot with the coach in recent days and conversations with Simon Rolfes and Rudi Voller have convinced me that there are great prospects at Leverkusen, Fosu-Mensah said.

Both for me personally and for us as a team. This is going to be very exciting.

After the arrival of Fosu-Mensah, Rolfes said: He is a technically competent, fast and physically strong defender who can be used on the right side of the defence as well as in central defence.
