At a charity auction in Dubai on Monday 22. In March 2021, a work by British artist Sacha Jaffrey will be auctioned off as the world’s largest painting on canvas. As The Guardian noted, the size of the image is comparable to nearly four NBA basketball courts. It is divided into 70 framed pieces.

Sacha Jafri planned to auction these items separately, hoping to make a total of $30 million. As a result, all 70 pieces were bought by one man, Dubai-based businessman Andre Abdoun, who offered twice as much as expected, $62 million. This has made the 44-year-old artist one of the most expensive contemporary painters in the world.

According to CNN, the British artist will donate the proceeds of the auction to UNICEF, UNESCO, the Global Gift Foundation and Dubai Care for education, health and digital inclusion programs for children.

Guinness Book of World Records

The painting The Journey of Humanity is the largest in the world and has been included in the Guinness Book of Records. The artist created it in the ballroom of the Atlantis The Palm hotel in Dubai, where Jafri lives.

While measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus were stepped up, the United Arab Emirates anticipated the new travel regulations and the artist was stranded in Dubai longer than expected. This inspired him to create something unique that would be meaningful to everyone. This is how the idea arose to paint the Journey of Humanity. The work on the painting took seven months.

Children’s drawings

The canvas is also decorated with the works of children from 140 countries who submitted their art online. Jafri hopes that his painting will be an inspiration for the continuation and development of the humanitarian movement for children. Indeed, the COVID-19 pandemic situation and the ongoing quarantine have much more serious implications for them than for adults: It is more difficult for a child to cope with the difficulties and fears of a pandemic situation.

They need more support and help.

Sacha Jafri carefully divides his work into four components. The central place is occupied by the image of the earthly soul, and the other three parts characterize nature, humanity, and the universe as a whole.

Paint Copper

Businessman André Abdoun, who bought all the pieces of Humanity’s Journey, is a French citizen living in Dubai. He told CNN he came from a low-income family and knew what it was like to have no food in the house. The global pandemic is now a heavy burden on children around the world.

When he saw this painting, he was struck by its strength and power. There is depth and an inexplicable attraction. But only if you look at the whole picture, at all the parts together.

Abdun couldn’t share it and only take part of the painting, so he bought the whole painting. By doing this, he helped children.
