Dune, Matrix 4, Godzilla vs. Kong and The Suicide Squad will be released on the same day as their theatrical release on HBO Max. Warner Bros. announced that they will release all films in 2021 in an unprecedented way. Earlier, the studio had announced that it would release Wonder Woman 1984 for Christmas and HBO Max after a series of delays.

Warner Bros. published Christopher Nolans Tenet exclusively in the late summer theatres. Although the film was well received abroad, it was virtually unsuccessful in North America, mainly due to the public health crisis. The studio is currently experimenting with a new business model that has the potential to shake up the entire industry. Dune, Matrix 4, Godzilla vs. Kong and Suicide Squad are the four most anticipated films of 2021, mainly because two of them were originally planned for 2020.

POWERFUL: Warner Bros. will release all 2021 films simultaneously on HBO Max and in the cinema.

Dune Denis Vilnev was supposed to open in cinemas this month, but has been postponed to October next year. Godzilla All Kong is expected to appear in theatres again this year. Most theatres in North America are now closed, and it looks like that will take some time. Warner Bros. and the major film chains expect 2021 to be a quiet year for a return to the theatres and other public places. In the end, the whole industry may look different, and this will be even more the case if other studios follow suit.

Universal Pictures has several similarities with Cinemark and AMC, but all they do is shorten the windows in the halls so that their films can run faster. Warner Bros. has avoided all this and focuses on a new hybrid system that is already making huge waves. Toby Emmerich, president of Warner Bros. Pictures, says this hybrid exhibition model will enable us to support our films, creative partners and film production in general as best we can throughout 2021. At the moment it is unclear if the studio has worked with theater networks to plan new releases.

For the time being, it seems that the Disney and Marvel studios will keep their theatre projects going. The Marvel Studio is currently installed on the Black Widow and the Eternal, which should have already opened in the theatres. Universal Pictures is working with cinemas to shorten release times, and other studios are likely to follow in Warner Bros. The 2021 experiment will only last a year, after which the studio will have to return to normal life, depending on the evolution of the public health crisis in the coming months. You can watch the short teaser Dune, The Matrix 4, The Suicide Squad and the above Godzilla vs. Kong commercial on Warner Bros. official channel.

Topics: HBO Max, Streaming, Dune, Matrix 4, Suicide Squad 2.
