To become a DM, you must first pass the UPSC exam and secure at least one place in the top 100. After your preparation for the exam, you will be a member of the Indian Administrative Service. An IAS officer is promoted to district magistrate after two promotions.

To become a District Magistrate, candidates must meet certain basic requirements such as citizenship, qualifications and age.

1. Nationality: The basic requirement to become a DM is citizenship. He/she is a permanent citizen of India.
2. Qualifying: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or its equivalent. After completing the course, the candidate can appear at the UPSC and take the exam.

What is the age limit to become a district judge?

1. For the general category : A candidate in the general category must be between 21 and 30 years of age to become a DM.
2. For the OBC category: A candidate in the OBC category must be between 21 and 33 years of age to become a district judge. The Indian government has given this category a leave of absence of 3 years.
3. For the category SC/ST: An SC/ST candidate between the age of 21 and 35 years can become district magistrate. In this category a rest period of 5 years applies.

• The candidate can choose the field of study of his choice
• Moreover, candidates who have completed their training through associations are also eligible to apply for the post of District Magistrate.
• If you are registering for the final exam, you will also be participating in the UPSC exam.
• Candidates who are waiting for the final results are also eligible for the UPSC preliminary examination. If you have completed your final year, you must submit your graduation certificate as proof.
• Graduates of technical courses also have the opportunity to apply for the DM position.
• Holders of a professional diploma may also apply for this position.

The UPSC exam consists of two compulsory sections of 200 marks each. Candidates must obtain a total of 33% of the marks for the second part of the preselection test.
